Volkswagen of America – Battery Testing

A standalone EV battery testing facility for Volkswagen's North American EV program.

Built around the equipment, not the other way around.

Testing EV batteries takes shaker tables, climate chambers, and controlled tear-down areas, each with its own power, environmental, and structural demands. Volkswagen needed one building to hold all of it.

The construction challenge was MEP coordination precise enough that highly specialized equipment could be installed and commissioned without rework. In 2024 we delivered a one-of-a-kind facility supporting VW's North American EV program, the fourth consecutive J.A. Fielden engagement on the Chattanooga campus.
